Originally, Tangled was conceived as a sequel to Enchanted. But Glen Keane, the executive producer, rejected the idea. He wanted to make a new movie that wasn’t focused on a princess storyline to bring in a male audience. When this was decided, Flynn Ryder (Eugene) was granted a larger role. Original trailers show Ryder’s presence more than Rapunzel’s.
