Fun Fact Friday! #177

marnie halloweentown

marnieI’m super jazzed up about this one today! Did you know that you can actually visit Halloweentown, the infamous parallel universe (I guess)?! This movie and its installments are the epitome of 90’s movies; sort of corny, kind of creepy, not 100% kid-friendly yet they try to pass it off that way.

Anyways, Halloweentown actually exists in St. Helens, Oregon. It’s where the movie was filmed, and apparently they not only welcome tourists, but throw a month-long “Spirit of Halloweentown” event in celebration of Halloween! They allow tourists to explore through the town, and have even recreated parts of the set! Cue in the giant jack-o-lantern!

Fun Fact Friday #176 – Happy Birthday Disney… and ME!

Yes, it’s true. The fact that the Walt Disney Company was established on this day in 1923, combined with the fact that I was born on this day in 1986, has awarded me with the perfect, logically excuse as to why I am so obsessed with all things Disney! It’s written in the stars!

Normally on Friday’s I post a Fun Fact, but since today is my birthday, I’m going to serve up 5 juicy facts all about me+disney! Enjoy 🙂

1.) When I was two-years old, I went to Disney World for the first time. The best memory from this was when Baloo chased me around the yard! My parents still laugh about it today.

2.) I have a room in my house dedicated to all things Disney. The point of this was to keep my obsession contained… but, alas, the Den just couldn’t hold all of my love and so some of it has spilled over into my kitchen cabinets. And, possibly, my bedroom. Oh, and in my car… *yikes*

3.) I don’t know how many times I have been to Walt Disney World, but my best guess would be at least 10 times! I’ve also been to Disneyland twice, and have recently made last-minute plans to go back in November of this year!

4.) For the past three-years or so, I have kept this pin on my desk. My office is decorated professionally, and this it literally the only “fun” or “whimsical” item I have on display. I feel like it represents me, because I work int he construction industry, but I’m a Disney-Girl at heart! I love this pin!

5.) The last time I was in Walt Disney World with my family was in 2011. It was a different trip, because we are all so much older now. We stayed at the All-Star Music hotel for a week. My greatest all star musicmemory, as cheesy as it may sound, was when the hotel did an outdoor movie by the pool. They were playing Beauty and the Beast, one of my all-time favorite movies. We had gone out to pick up a pizza at Giordano’s and sat outside, watching the movie, and just being together.

Since then, a lot has changed. My siblings and I have moved in and out of my parent’s home, every one is working different hours, and we all have our own friends/significant others/etc… that are threaded through our lives. Sometimes it saddens me to think that it will never be “the five of us” again. But thankfully, I have such wonderful memories to look back on, and Disney is a huge part of that.

Have a great weekend everyone!

It’s All About Aladdin!

Today is the release of the Aladdin Diamond-Edition, and that means the day belongs to our favorite Street-Rat turned Prince! I’m watching the clock today at work, because my plans for tonight consist of watching this film on the big screen and singing along to all the songs – because every 90’s kids should have this movie memorized!

Check out this video of Lea Salonga (Jasmine) and Brad Kane (Aladdin) as they sing A Whole New World on the Good Morning America, with brilliant song-writer Alan Menken accompanying them. Priceless!

Fun Fact Friday! #175

Shout out to Princess Tiana today! I’ve put in an extra long (and tiring) week, so I’m relating extra hard to our busy-bee lady! This one’s for you!

Directors Ron Clements and John Musker pitched the film to Oprah on a trip to Disneyland, just for fun. She loved the idea so much that she asked to be a part of it. Oprah got her wish (how could you say no to her?) and voiced Eudora, Tiana’s Momma! I did not know that until today. Cool!

Disney World Tag! You may be “it” :)

Ooh, I like this game! I was recently “tagged” by fellow Disney blogger, The Disney Freak with a bit of Mascara, in this fun, all about Disney, game! My responses are below. I am going to tag the following:

This iconic entrance always makes me smile!

1.Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios? Magic Kingdom #Castles

2.Epcot or Hollywood Studios? Epcot! Mostly for the food, but hello – I get to travel the world in one day! Plus, who doesn’t love Soarin’. Probably my favorite ride of all!

3.Animal Kingdom or Epcot? Yikes. Oh boy. I really love Epcot. But I’m such a big animal lover, and they’re adding an Avatar Land and that just sounds amazing! If I only had one day… Epcot. *that hurts*

4.Epcot or Magic Kingdom? This is getting rough. Can I call a tie? Is that allowed? I gotta be honest, I really think the Epcot wins this for me. While I would be bummed missing out on MK, I feel like Epcot is such an amazing park, you feel like you’re on such an adventure. And it’s a little more adult, so I’m going to say Epcot. I surprise myself sometimes…

5.Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom? Hollywood Studios. A trip to WDW doesn’t feel right without seeing the 3D Muppets Show, and also they have Fantasmic, which completely blew my mind!

6.Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom? Magic Kingdom. And that means I officially ended this round without choosing Animal Kingdom. #bummer

6.Splash Mountain or Space Mountain? I’m a chicken and haven’t rode either ride. I know, I know. But I am enticed to go on Splash Mountain next time, so I’ll choose that. Come on, a roller coaster in the dark – are you people crazy?!?!

7.Peter Pan’s Flight or It’s A Small World? Peter Pan’s Flight. Can never got on the ride, though… 😦

8.The Jungle Crusie or Pirates of the Carribean? Pirates of the Caribbean, although Jungle Cruise is up there. But you need to ride POTC, it’s a moral imperative! Continue reading
